Rust-Oleum Netherlands BV part of RPM International Inc. (www.rpminc.com) has acquired Dutch Specialty Coatings Company Chemtec Chemicals BV as of 1 March 2010.
Chemtec is a manufacturer of specialty cleaning and maintenance products based in Rotterdam. Chemtec offers a broad selection of products for maintaining the exterior of buildings including cleaners for a variety of surfaces, waterproofing sealers, and anti-graffiti products. They also market slip-resistance coatings for a wide variety of substrates everything from wood to concrete and tile floors. Most of their current business is in the Netherlands, selling primarily to building maintenance contractors and paint stores.
Chemtec will become a stand-alone business unit within our Rust-Oleum Industrial Business Group led by Steve Winrow, Commercial Director Europe, and Reinout Klapwijk, Location Director Rust-Oleum Netherlands B.V., will manage directly the business of Chemtec.
The acquisition of Chemtec adds niche products and opportunities to our industrial business group. Enabling this unique product assortment wider exposure throughout the current Rust-Oleum distribution network, expanding the presence of these products and technology throughout Europe.

MEDINA, Ohio, Dec. 14 - RPM International Inc. (NYSE: RPM) today announced that its subsidiary, Rust-Oleum Corporation, has acquired FibreGrid Limited, a supplier of fiberglass anti-slip safety products based in the United Kingdom. Terms of the transaction, which is expected to be accretive to earnings within one year, were not disclosed.
FibreGrid, which has annual sales of approximately $3.5 million, manufactures innovative glass reinforced plastic safety products for anti-slip applications such as stair tread covers and noses, riser plates, ladder rungs, decking strips, flooring and matting. Among its clients are small businesses, warehouses, schools and municipalities. Most of FibreGrid's orders involve custom cutting and colors, 24-hour turnaround and small quantities.
"FibreGrid will become a business unit within our Watco UK Limited business, which is part of Rust-Oleum. Watco has been selling FibreGrid products for many years, has a similar business model and can leverage its marketing expertise to support FibreGrid's growth. FibreGrid's founder, Rob Cousin, will remain involved in the business and his son, Scott, will continue running day-to-day operations," stated Frank C. Sullivan, RPM chairman and chief executive officer.

Most probably you are familiar with the aluminium coloured RUST-OLEUM® Money Saver paint cans. Despite their recognisibility we have decided to restyle the packaging of this topline product group.
High Performance
Although the Money Saver philosophy still applies to all RUST-OLEUM products, we have decided to emphasize moreover the quality aspect of our products using the new brand name HIGH PERFORMANCE. This brand is also the family name of our top level industrial coating system with such application areas as metal protection, floor protection, roof protection and hygiene solutions.
Restyling
For the restyling we have used the base colour White, the colour of professional painters, whilst maintaining some aluminium elements as a reference to the traditional RUST-OLEUM® cans. At the same time, the black text on the white background improves the readability of the instructions text. The large series number on the side of the can improves the recognition of the can from a distance.
The new packaging will gradually become available throughout 2009.

Two new concrete repair products have been added to the RUST-OLEUM® 1-2-3 MAINTENANCE range, namely: EpoxyShield® Fine Crack repair mortar and EpoxyShield® Concrete Repair Mortar.
The fine crack repair is the ideal product for repairing small cracks is concrete floors. It is a liquid two-component epoxy and easy to use. Simply mix the two components together, pour the mixture into the crack, smooth off with the spatula (included at no extra cost) and that’s it. The liquid epoxy formula becomes rock-hard and does not shrink.
For bigger repairs there is now the ready-mix concrete repair mortar. The ideal product for rapid repairs to holes, large cracks etc. Simply add water, mix and apply. After 24 hours the product will have hardened to a tough concrete base layer and it can then easily be sanded to a smooth final finish. The packaging can be used as a mixing container and a spreading spatula and mixing rod are supplied free with the product.
Next year the EpoxyShield® range will be further extended to a complete floor programme for professional end-users, including for example water-based floor coatings and cleaning products.
